While it can be easy to throw on the same hoodie and sweatpants on a daily basis, winter is actually a great time to experiment with your style. As we conclude Women’s History Month, I thought it would be valuable to share some of my favorite brands owned by Black women. Fashion has been and will continue to be a huge part of black history and culture. For black women today, fashion design has become a way for them to represent their cultural heritage, femininity, and excellence. The fashion industry has changed a lot over the past decade with there being more acceptance of different skin tones and body types, and these black women are at the forefront of this change.

Layers, layers, and more layers! It’s been a running gag in the dancer community that dancers, mainly in the hip-hop space, tend to over-dress. This style emphasizes the versatility of clothing and how you don’t always have to wear clothes the traditional way. Back in September of 2025, professional dancers in LA went viral on TikTok for their outfits, with non-dancers mimicking their style choices. Dancing is all about flow, rhythm, and beat, and you need comfortable and breathable clothing to help accent every move.
