Meet Our Community Members: Samantha
Hi! I’m Samantha, an Editorial Intern at A Style Set. I’m a fashion merchandising major at LIM College. When I’m not writing blogs, I greatly enjoy staying active by working out on the treadmill, online shopping for clothes, browsing social media on my phone, and listening to music (Tate McRae’s been on repeat lately!). I also love collecting old issues of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar magazines, especially from the 2000s decade, which is one of my favorite fashion eras.

Long Island, New York.
HOW I got into fashion:
Ever since I was a little girl, I have been intrigued by fashion. One of my earliest memories was sitting on my Nana’s lap as she scrolled on the computer, showing me beautiful Oscar de la Renta wedding dresses on the runway. However, it wasn’t until my senior year of high school, after taking a fashion illustration class, that I realized I could turn my strong passion into a career. My dream job is to become a stylist because I always loved the styling process and took joy in piecing together unique outfit ideas.

Lately, I’ve been into wearing sportier styles, like comfortable, oversized flannels. I also recently purchased these baggy jorts from The Kript and I’m obsessed with the buckle details! When going out, I accessorized with mini glasses, silver jewelry, my pink crossbody purse from MCM, and platform Timberlands.

How I’d Describe my style:
Overall, I would describe my style as very trendy and feminine, but I’m open to experimenting in switching between different aesthetics depending on the day. That’s one of the fun parts about fashion because it gives you so much freedom to be creative in how you choose to express yourself! I have also been growing more interested in vintage clothing after getting the opportunity to model for a vintage store last month and seeing all the celebrities wear vintage on the red carpet.

My 21st birthday is three months away, but one special gift that I’d love to splurge on is a Murakami designer bag from Louis Vuitton. I have been eyeing up the throwback collection ever since it was released, especially after seeing the editorial campaign starring Zendaya. I also turned on notifications so that I can be updated on potential restocks. Fingers crossed that these bags will be available again soon!
ONe clothing item i can’t live without:
High heels, specifically Mary-Janes, sandals, and pumps! I’m 5’3” so I enjoy the extra height, plus I think heels pair well with so many pieces like mini-skirts, dresses, and jeans (especially when they’re too long in the inseam- short girl problems!). Heels also really help to level up your outfit due to their versatility and their ability to be dressed up or down.
MY FASHION MUSE:
Hands down, Sabrina Carpenter is one of my top fashion muses and also one of my favorite singers! I take a lot of inspiration from her style which is girly and playful to recreate, as well as her makeup when I want to try something new. I even use Sabrina as hair inspo for my blonde everytime I go to the salon. Seeing her posts pop up on my Instagram feed, I always fall in love with her outfits.

I also really admire Ariana Grande’s chic style. I have been a fan of her and her music for a very long time, so she’s definitely another fashion icon I look up to. Ever since the Wicked movie press tour especially, Ariana has been stepping out to numerous awards shows and promos in such amazing all-pink, Glinda inspired looks. It’s always enjoyable for me to keep an eye on what Ariana will wear next!
FAVORITE PART ABOUT INTERNING AT A STYLE SET:
My favorite part about interning at A Style Set is researching the latest fashion trends and sourcing clothing items to go along with each category within my blogs. I have also learned a lot about creating engaging graphics on Canva. My time as an intern at A Style Set has been so much fun thus far, and I’m really excited to continue writing!
