Meet Our Community Members: MILA

Hi! I’m Mila, an Editorial Intern at A Style Set. I’m studying journalism at the University of Central Florida. I love all things fashion, concerts, and being in nature. When I’m not writing for A Style Set you can find me on a nature walk with my friends or going to basketball games. I love reading old issues of Vogue or mystery books.

WHERE I’M FROM:

Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

MY OOTD:

I prioritize sleep in the mornings before class, so having a go-to outfit of basics is perfect for days when I have to go on campus.

TRENDS I’M SEEING ON MY COLLEGE CAMPUS:

Although it’s fall, it is still over 80ºF in Florida, so there hasn’t been much fall fashion. I have been seeing a lot of grunge on campus this season. Motorcycle boots with boxers and t-shirts have been my favorite outfit to see. I think a lot of students are also into athleisure and prioritizing comfort, especially when heading to classes.

HOW I GOT INTO FASHION: 

I have always loved art and seeing runway shows from Fashion Weeks across the world, making me  realize that fashion is art. While I started out seeing the beauty in couture first, I have grown to love street style and the expression and personality it offers. Being able to express myself everyday (and sometimes multiple times a day) with my outfits makes me feel more confident. 

CURRENT FASHION FAVORITE:

I have been loving jorts! I think they are the perfect staple piece for everyday outfits. They are especially handy when trying to put together fall outfits when it’s still super hot outside. I love pairing them with oversized t-shirts or blouses.

WHAT’S ON MY WISHLIST:

About a month ago, I wrote about an Australian brand, Sasha Therese, in our Emerging Brands blog post. Ever since, I have been eyeing the Perla Top and Skirt set. It is such an elegant and eye-catching outfit that I think would be a perfect addition to my wardrobe.

FAVORITE AESTHETIC:

While I like to wear outfits from all types of aesthetics, the one that I find myself gravitating towards most often is streetwear. I love collecting basics and wearing oversized clothes that are very easy to style in the mornings.

MY TREND PREDICTIONS: 

I predict that people will start expressing themselves through their clothes more, whether that be with colors, silhouettes, or styles. I also predict that a lot of people will dress outside of their comfort zone and aesthetics. Fashion lovers will wear whatever they want without being worried about trends or sticking to one style.

ONE CLOTHING ITEM I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT:

I can’t live without my thrifted men’s Levi’s 505 jeans. They are the perfect pair of baggy and low-waisted jeans. I wear them just about everyday.

MY FASHION MUSE:

My favorite fashion icon is Riley Saurage (@rileysaurage). She is always combining streetwear and feminine silhouettes and I draw inspiration from her outfits whenever I’m stuck in a rut. 

FAVORITE PART ABOUT INTERNING AT A STYLE SET: 

I love getting to explore all different types of fashion when writing for A Style Set. I also really love getting inspiration from runway shows when writing blog posts. I feel a lot more articulate when it comes to style and I have definitely started dressing better.
