How to Elevate Your Style Through Accessories: Accessories we'd recommend & how to style them
With the clean girl aesthetic slowly making its way out, maximalist accessories are starting to pop up all over the place. With big pieces in all sorts of categories, we love the pops of colour and fun shapes finding their moment. We’re also seeing pieces that we haven’t seen in a while, like scrunchies and belts, starting to come back into the spotlight.
BOWS
Bows have been the biggest accessory trend over the past couple of months so it would be insane not to mention them here again. Head to our previous blog post, “ALL THINGS BOWS: YOUR GUIDE TO STYLING THE LATEST TREND”, for an in-depth post all about styling the bow!
Scrunchies
If you’ve been spending too much time on Pinterest lately (I know I have) you will have seen beautiful, big, and sometimes frilly scrunchies everywhere. We’ve seen a couple of main brands producing some awesome scrunchies, they are Good Squish and Sandy Liang. Another brand we’re loving is Cawley Studio. Scrunchies are a blast from the past and I can remember wearing them religiously in my primary school days. They’re also a fun way to accessorise your hair if you prefer it tied up and out of the way. We love to see them paired with basic outfits and worn with matching colours, clothing, and other accessories. They’re frilly and fun and we can’t wait to see more of them.

Statement Belts
We love how belts are coming back around again and I am definitely guilty of borrowing a belt from my mum’s closet in the last week or two. I’ve seen so many incredible outfits with a statement belt tying it all together. When I say statement belt I mean any style that stands out from the rest of the outfit. I’m thinking a skinny red belt on blue denim, a studded belt on a plain outfit, or a dark belt on a white skirt. It’s something so simple that can add a level of sophistication to the outfit, and it works great for a casual or more work-appropriate outfit.

Cord necklaces with pendants
Taking something so normal and changing it up slightly can really add to the piece you’re wearing. We’ve seen beautiful pendants on cords everywhere recently and we cannot get over how cute it is. It adds a little boho chic to whatever you’re wearing. Taking a necklace you already own and a cord from your local craft shop is a great way to try this trend out if you’re not 100% sure about it. You could take anything you would normally wear and layer the necklace on top for a new going out, work, or grabbing a coffee look.

Charm necklaces
Recently Brooklyn Charm, a New York based charm necklace-making store, has gone viral for offering custom-made charm necklaces and bracelets, and it’s made everyone realise how cute having a personalised piece of jewellery is. I think the fun part of a charm necklace is customising it to your hobbies and interests. A simple piece of jewellery to everyone else can mean way more to the person wearing it. We love seeing the charm necklaces layered with other chain or pendant necklaces. Having coloured pendants tie into your other accessories, like a blue charm and blue hair bow, is a cute way to level up your accessories. There’s always the option to buy a necklace pre-made but having the option to customise it is an opportunity you shouldn’t pass up.
