All Things Bows: your guide to styling the latest trend

We’ve seen bows absolutely everywhere but with so many options with how to wear them, we decided to give you all a helping hand. Some easy, some more crafty, some shopping, and some styling ideas to help you style the bow-themed outfits of your dreams.

HOW WE ARE WEARING BOWS

Hair bows

Obviously, we love putting bows in our hair but there are so many different options just for our hair that we just can’t decide! The classic option is using a piece of ribbon to tie around a bun or pony tail, super fun and simple and you can use any ribbon you want. You can also get pre-made bows on hair ties to achieve the same effect but with a slightly more manicured look. Then we have bows on hair clips so you can add as many as will fit on your head plus it means you can place them anywhere that takes your fancy. Lastly bows on headbands and claw clips are also super cute if you’re also wanting to keep your hair out of your face.

Using ribbon in other places

If you’ve got ribbon lying around and maybe you want your hair out, there’s no reason you can’t tie it onto other parts of your outfits! Take your bag and tie some bows around the handles and it won’t even be in your way while still stepping up your look. We’ve seen bows tied onto the back of jeans and on the sleeves of shirts but there’s so much room for creativity with endless options.

Sewing onto clothing pieces

If you’re savvy with a sewing machine or needle and thread, sewing some ribbon onto your t-shirt or jeans is a fun project. Tying the bow and then ironing flat it will make this super easy to add to anything like a tote bag or piece of clothing.

Printed and Jewelry bows

If you’re not the crafty type there are still so many options for you. Shirts with a fun bow-themed print on the front are a great way to let the bow take centre stage. For a more subtle option try some bow-themed jewellery in your ears, on your wrist or fingers, or around your neck!

Play with colour!

We love seeing all the colour that’s popping back up going into summer and the bows are no exception. Two main ways to play with the colour of your bows and your outfits are to match part of your outfit with the bows are to contrast it. Matching your bow with your statement sneaker or handbag ties the outfit together. Taking a contrasting colour to your outfit to use as a bow will make it stand out way more. Like if you’ve got on a navy blue outfit a bright orange or yellow bow will really pop. You can also do this with a more basic outfit and a brightly coloured bow.

Size- play with proportion

We’ve seen super wide bows with long tails and super tiny bows and we love it all. Taking a monster bow and pairing it with a basic outfit or a short skirt is a fun way to play with the proportion, in the same way, having three of four small bows in your hair with a super oversized outfit will.

Bows everywhere!

Bows aren’t only restricted to what you’re wearing with so many different pieces including them as fun prints or embellishments. Take a look at some fun new bedding or framed art to give your room a makeover, or a new phone case because I’m sure we all need an upgrade from the yellowing clear case we all end up with. Another fun way is buying a whole bunch of sticker bows so you can add them to anything your heart desires!
